Ingredients

  • 4 Cups watermelon pieces deseeded & cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons lime or lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar adjust depending on the sweetness of watermelon
  • Few mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Puree and freeze method
  • Place watermelon chunks in the bowl of a food processor. Puree until smooth.
  • Add the lemon juice and sugar to the watermelon puree and mix.
  • Transfer the watermelon mixture to a bowl, cover, and freeze until solid, 8 to 10 hours. Two to four hours before serving, move the bowl to the refrigerator to soften the mixture.
  • In the last hour before serving, use a fork to break the softened mixture into shavings.
  • Garnish with mint leaves and serve cold.
  • Frozen watermelon chunk method:
  • Freeze cut and deseeded watermelon chunks. Remove them when you want to make a slushy.
  • Blend to a puree and then mix with lemon juice and sugar and serve.

Notes

1. Try using orange juice or even lemon lime soda instead.
2. If you want an Indian touch, add some black salt.
3. If you want to include alcohol, add one shot per serving to the blender. The frozen watermelon chunk method works best for this drink rather than the puree and freeze method.
