Chaat style mashed potato toast

Chaat Style Mashed Potato Toast Sandwich has a delicate crunch to the bread, with a soft interior of savoury potato & is served with sweet & tangy chutney & a spicy green chutney.

  • For the Filling:
  • 2 potatoes boiled and skinned
  • 1 green chilli finely chopped
  • 1 small red onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup Coriander finely chopped
  • Required salt
  • To make the Sandwich:
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Green chutney
  • 1 tablespoon dates tamarind chutney or <a href="https://www.masalakorb.com/sweet-sour-and-spicy-tomato-chutney/" title="Sweet Sour and Spicy Tomato Chutney">sweet and sour tomato chutney
  • A pinch of Chaat masala


  • Combine all the ingredients under the list "For the filing" in a bowl. Use a potato masher or fork to mash the potato pretty well, but it should have some lumps remaining for texture.
  • Spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Add a layer of about 1/4 cup of filling over the chutney.
  • Sprinkle some chaat masala.
  • Put the other slice of bread over this, butter side out.
  • Put it on a grill and toast till golden brown.


Adjust spice levels with chutneys and green chillies.
If you want to serve kids, totally avoid green chillies.
Feel free to include or exclude ingredients as per your taste.
