Watermelon is really one of my all time favourite fruit and a perfect summer treat. These 4 Unique Watermelon Recipes will take less than 10 minutes to make and perfect to enjoy chilled when you are sitting in the hot summer sun. They are awesome summery recipes with one star ingredient “Watermelon”. Today, I will show you 4 delicious things to do with Watermelon.

Watermelon Mint Cooler:

This super simple summery recipe is perfect especially when you want something sweet, refreshing on sweltering hot days and healthy at the same time. This cool and refreshing  Mint Flavoured Watermelon Cooler hits the spot on those hot summer days!  This is one of the simplest, yet impressive looking summer drinks you could make with Watermelon and mint…. a very refreshing flavour combo. How to make Watermelon Mint Cooler

To a blender, add some freshly cut watermelon cubes, few mint leaves and blend until smooth….That’s it!!

Add sugar or honey if your water melon is not sweet enough. You can also add some lemon juice or pineapple juice to give it a tangy twist.

Pour it into a glass, add some ice cubes and serve. You can go a step ahead and make Mint Ice Cubes. It is as simple as putting fresh mint leaves and water in your ice cube tray a few hours beforehand….and you have those gorgeous looking mint ice cubes!! You can also add some lemon juice and add them to any lemonade.

Watermelon Lime Agua Fresca Recipe:

Fresh fruit drinks are very popular all over Mexico and are served from large barrel-shaped glass containers. Agua Fresca or Aguas de Frutas – literally translated in Spanish as “fresh water” or “fruit waters”.  In India, this delicious watermelon drink is called Tarbooj Ka Sharbat. This wonderful Watermelon Aqua Fresca drink is a very light-bodied and very refreshing fruit drink combined with a sweetener (traditionally sugar) and water. It is a very cooling summer drink and a refreshing alternative to a lemonade or iced tea. I have a detailed post on this recipe, click HERE to know a few watermelon fact.

How to make Watermelon Agua Fresca

  • To a blender, add some freshly cut watermelon cubes, water, lime juice and some sugar. Blend until smooth.
  • Alternatively, you can simply mash the fruit with a fork before adding the water and sweetener
  • Pour in the mixture through a strainer into a pitcher, forcing through most of the pulp. This is an optional step !!
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with some mint & fresh lime wedges and serve.

Frozen Watermelon Slush Recipe:

It’s cool, juicy, sweet and a delicious healthy dessert option. Sipping into a watermelon slush on a hot summer day is my favourite. A slushy is nothing but a flavoured frozen drink. This Frozen Watermelon Slush Recipe has mint and lime flavours. With watermelon season on hand, I cannot resist myself from creating this delicious drink. How to make Frozen Watermelon Slush

  • To a blender, add in some watermelon chunks and Puree until smooth.  Add in some lemon juice and sugar and mix.
  • Transfer the watermelon mixture to a bowl, cover, and freeze until solid, 8 to 10 hours.
  • Two to 3 hours before serving, move the bowl to the refrigerator to soften the mixture.
  • In the last hour before serving, use a fork to break the softened mixture into shavings.

Frozen Watermelon Chunk Method: Alternate method

  • Freeze watermelon chunks. Remove them when you want to make a slushy.
  • Blend to a puree and then mix with lemon juice and sugar and serve.

Watermelon Chaat Watermelon Salad:

This recipe for watermelon chaat, a savoury fruit salad dressed in some chaat masala, a dash of lime & topped with a few mint leaves is to die for!! You can make infinite variations on fruit chaat in the summer. You could swap out the watermelon for a mix of what’s in season, whether it’s berries, stone fruit, or cubed apple and pear. It’s full of flavours and hydrating, and quick to put together.

How to make Watermelon Chaat (Watermelon Mint Salad)

  • Combine freshly cut watermelon cubes with some chaat masala, a dash of lime & topped with a few mint leaves.
  • I also tried my hands on to do a simple carving to the watermelon for serving watermelon mint salad. Watch me do this simple watermelon carving HERE. I really enjoyed the process….You can skip this!!

Ingredients

Main Ingredient:

  • 2 Cups Watermelon Cubes for each recipe

Other Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp Lemon
  • Few Mint Leaves
  • Any Sugar/Sweetener
  • 1/4 tsp Chaat Masala

Instructions

1. Watermelon Mint Cooler:

  • To a blender, add some freshly cut watermelon cubes, few mint leaves and blend until smooth.

2. Watermelon Agua Fresca

  • To a blender, add some freshly cut watermelon cubes, water, 1 tbsp lemon juice and some sugar to your taste. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour in the mixture through a strainer into a pitcher, forcing through most of the pulp.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes & serve.

Notes

  • Below tips are common to all watermelon recipes given above. The prep time for the slushy does not include the freezing time.
  • Adding a sweetener is optional. That will depend on the sweetness of your watermelon.
  • Adjust mint leaves and lemon juice quantities to suit your taste.
  • Add a pinch of black salt to the drinks gives that Indian touch!!
  • You can also experiment with various combination of flavours. Instead of lemon juice, you can use any other fruit juice to give it a tangy twist.
  • If you want to include alcohol, add one shot per serving while blending the mixture.
