Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Smoothie

Strawberry Banana Yoghurt SmoothieV1nWhen the rising mercury levels, the sun beating on you… Are you sweating from simply getting off the couch, then try relaxing with a cool and refreshing smoothie. It’s so freaking hot here for the last 2 days and in fact getting worse over the weekend!! I decided try to beat the heat with this Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Smoothie that can be blended in a jiffy. Smoothies are a great way to get all your favourite essences into the perfect relaxation refreshment. They are the ultimate hearty no-cook wonder drink and kids love them.

The classic Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Smoothie recipe is hard to beat. It’s sweet, it’s refreshing, it’s good for your health, it’s always delicious and tastes out of the world!!

If you love strawberries and bananas, you will be delighted with this refreshing smoothie. Not only is it mouthwatering delicious but it is extremely healthy. It is packed with potassium, vitamin C, antioxidants and calcium from the yoghurt. The bananas give you an extra smooth texture coupled with fresh strawberries for a perfectly sweet flavour.

As far as I remember I’m pretty sure that this was the first smoothie I ever made back when I first heard the word “smoothie”. This recipe can be the base for all sorts of experiments and great new recipes! Throw in a mint or basil leaf to give some savoury flavour. Add a little honey for sweetness. Pack come chia seeds for protein.

Miraculously, the mighty Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Smoothie has always managed to taste good with all of the random additives. Smoothie recipes are extremely flexible. Mixing fruit with other ingredients often overpowers the less appealing taste of vegetables, protein, and other add-ins. This makes smoothies a great option for getting vegetables into kids and adults who tend to shy away from the somewhat bitter taste of raw veggies. Blend up some spinach or kale with a few apples or grapes and berries and you would never know you are downing several servings of raw leafy greens. Just imagine – raw veggies actually taste like dessert! It’s a dream come true especially for moms.

Strawberry Banana Yoghurt SmoothieV7

You can substitute any fruit along with the banana. Blueberries, or raspberries would be a good substitute. The banana provides a nice creamy thick texture to the smoothie. I used an extra ripe banana for this recipe. You can use frozen banana if you have that on hand.

This smoothie tastes more like a dessert than a healthy snack. It’s a great replacement when you are craving something sweet and can indulge without any guilt. It is also a great midway snack or a quick breakfast on the go or prtfect as a post workout snack.

The best part about smoothies is their flexibility. No matter your taste or what’s in season, you can make a smoothie that will taste great, cool you down, and leave you guiltless!!

Let it be a smoothie or a milkshake, these are a no-recipe recipe. All you’re doing is blending ingredients together!! But it’s incredible how amazing they taste considering how easy they are to make. Simple, fresh, healthy ingredients make the best smoothies and milkshakes. I always feel good drinking these- just 3 ingredients, 5 minutes. done!!

I like my strawberry banana yoghurt smoothie a little frothy, but if you let them sit for a minute, they’ll get creamier.

Let’s whip up this simple and quick Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Smoothie:

Strawberry Banana Yoghurt SmoothieV2

Step-by-Step process in making Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Smoothie:

  • Prepare strawberries, wash thoroughly, hull them and slice to half if they are big.
  • Cut bananas (fresh or frozen) into 1 inch slices.

step1

  • Add greek yoghurt or normal yoghurt (any yoghurt of your choice) and half a cup of milk.
  • Place strawberries and bananas into a blender. Add a few ice cubes if you want.

step3

  • Blend all the ingredients on high power until smooth and creamy.
  • The longer you blend, the fluffier the mixture tends to become due to the bananas.
  • Add honey to sweeten if needed depending on the sweetness of banana and berries (I haven’t added).

Note: Reserve a few strawberries for garnish.

step4

  • Pour mixture into 2 glasses and serve immediately.
  • Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of strawberry.
  • Goes well with cookies, a muffin or a favourite sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt or normal yoghurt
  • 1 medium banana peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1½ cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced in half
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional

Instructions

  • Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend on high power until smooth and creamy.
  • The longer you blend, the fluffier the mixture tends to become due to the bananas.
  • Add honey to sweeten if needed, based on the sweetness of banana and berries (I haven't added).
  • Pour mixture into 2 glasses and serve immediately.
  • Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of strawberry.
  • Goes well with cookies, a muffin or a favourite sandwich.

Notes

1. The longer you blend, the fluffier the mixture tends to become due to the bananas.
2. The riper the bananas, the sweeter they are, and the better your smoothie will taste.
3. Frozen berries and fruit keep these frosty smoothies extra thick and ice cold.
4. Give the smoothie a shake before drinking.
5. You can use any flavour or style of yogurt that you prefer.
6. Use ice cubes in case you are not using frozen fruit.
