Oats Dry Fruits Laddu, How to make Oats Ladoo I’m sure all of you are gearing up for the most awaited festival of the year….DIWALI…Festival of Lights!! I plan to keep this Diwali simple..may be with just 2-3 recipes…..that too, specially for my readers!! My first share as a part of Diwali celebrations is Oats Dry Fruits Laddu, a healthy treat to satisfy your sweet tooth without compromising in taste!! Once you make this, I bet you will be making this more often…..Oats Dry Fruits Laddu packed with nutrition is very easy to make, super quick, healthy and you can binge on it guilt free…Can’t get better…Right?

Do not limit yourself to use oats just to make porridge, instead make these Oats Dry Fruits Laddu and surprise your family. We all know that Oats are a good source of fibre which can lower cholesterol levels. Dates are rich in iron, walnuts, almonds, cashew etc are packed with health benefits. This recipe involves only handful ingredients in its making. Even if you are missing a few ingredients, it fine!! If you have a liking for particular nuts, you can make them the prime ingredients. On-the-go Oats Dry Fruits Laddu is a wholesome snack enjoyed by all age groups. It’s great to have them in your pack during outdoor activity for instant energy…….It can be a hit in any party………It satiates your midnight cravings – what more can one ask for!

Oats Dry Fruits Laddu, How to make Oats Ladoo

Oats Dry Fruits Laddu can be made for festivals like Diwali and can be easily prepared even by beginners. You will totally love the intense flavour of the laddu along with powdered oats and the interludes of crunchy nuts. So, why are you waiting…….just grab available nuts from your pantry and get going. In case you do not have dates, replace with jaggery or powdered sugar. But, you will need to add ghee or extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil to bind the mixture…obviously that tastes super delicious, but, with a little compromise on the health quotient!!

Easy Steps to make Oats Dry Fruits Laddu:

  • Pit, chop dates and set aside.
  • Gather all the nuts you would like to include in the Oats Dry Fruits Laddu. You can adjust the quantity of each variety of nut as per your preference.
  • Roughly chop the nuts.
  • Dry roast the nuts in a pan, one by one over low heat. They should be roasted but should not change the colour. Every nut needs different roasting time, so make sure to roast them separately. In the end roast dry coconut pieces too.

NOTE:

Today, I’m roasting all of them together (except for dry coconut) as I’m in a rush….and I must say….even this works!! I have added dry coconut pieces after the nuts were half roasted. For best results and especially if you are preparing for the first time, I recommend you to roast separately.

  • Coarsely powder the nuts and transfer to a bowl.
  • Dry roast sesame seeds separately in a pan over low heat till the colour changes and you get an aroma. They are too tiny, so better to roast them separately.

Let’s work with the dates:

  • Heat 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan over low heat, add in the chopped dates and roast till you get a soft mixture like you see in the picture below (to your right). Smash dates while you are mixing them.
  • This will take about 8 to 10 minutes depending on the texture of the dates (soft or hard).

  • Add in the dates mass (while it is still hot) to the oats and nuts powder.
  • Add some cardamom powder for flavour.

Oats Dry Fruits Laddu | How to make Oats Ladoo | Oats Laddu with Dates

Oats Dry Fruits Laddu is a power packed healthy treat made with only dates, oats, nuts & a little bit of ghee. Perfect for festivals like Diwali or as a snack!!
Prep Time20 minutes mins
Cook Time20 minutes mins
Total Time40 minutes mins
Course: Dessert / Sweet
Cuisine: Indian
Servings: 15 to 18
Author: Padma Veeranki

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Mixed nuts
  • 1/4 Cup Dry Coconut Pieces
  • 2 Tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 1 Cup Oats
  • 2 teaspoons Ghee divided
  • 1½ Cup Dates pit and chop
  • ½ teaspoon Cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Dry roast the nuts in a pan, one by one on low heat. Also, roast coconut pieces.
  • Run them n a blender just for a few seconds to get a coarse powder.
  • Roast sesame seeds.
  • Dry roast oats until it is hot to touch. Cool and powder it along with sesame seeds.
  • Heat 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan over low heat, add in the chopped dates and roast till you get a soft mixture.
  • Mix dates paste, powdered nuts, powdered oats, cardamom powder and combine well.
  • Grease your hand with ghee, take small portions and start making balls.
  • If the mixture is too dry, add a little ghee or honey to bind.
  • Serve or store in an air tight container once they cool down.

My Notes:

  1. There is no particular oder to roast the ingredients. It is better to roast all dry ingredients first and then dates at the end so that it is still warm while binding and doesn’t turn hard once it cools down.
  2. If you want more sweet, then add jaggery, brown sugar or honey.
  3. You can increase dates according to your taste. You can also add figs to this.
  4. The quantities and proportions of nuts is your choice. This recipe is completely trial and error and also depends on your requirements and taste. There is no exact fixed proportions of any ingredient…. just experiment!!
  5. You can also add pecans, raisins, dried cranberries and any dry fruits of your choice.
  6. If you are not able to bind the mixture or if the mixture is too dry, add some ghee and shape them.
  7. While making these ladoos make sure no wet utensils or hands are used as it can reduce the shelf life of laddus.
